Assessment

At Our Lady's, we believe that assessment is essential to unlock children's true potential. We use assessment every day to ensure children are learning as well as they possibly can.

Teacher's and children use a range of techniques including marking and feedback to ensure there is continual dialogue about learning in the classroom. We are using skills ladders in four key areas of literacy and numeracy to support target setting and give children and parents an understanding of where children are in their learning and what they need to do next.

As well as our ongoing assessment, we also test the children at the end of each term. This summative assessment helps us ensure that children are making the progress that we would expect. These assessments are fedback to parents through Parent's evenings and to children in their Pupil-Teacher meetings. The headteacher also meets every teacher every term to talk about the progress each child is making and identify any children who need extra support.
