Meet Our Chaplain

Hello, my name is Federica Ali but at school I am known just as ‘Federica’. Since the autumn term 2023, I have been employed on a part-time basis at Our Lady’s School as a school lay chaplain, a job which I find extremely fulfilling. In fact here I have the chance to connect with many children at various moments of the day: when we sing worship songs together on the playground, or play games, when we pray together at the end of a school day, when we reflect on the Gospel of the day or when we explore ways we can unwrap the Bible stories as we act them out.

I was born and lived for 26 years in Milan (Italy) where I learnt to appreciate the value of Catholic education, from nursery to university inclusive. I moved to England 27 years ago where I got married and had 2 children, now both grown up. I have been a catechist and Youth music leader at St Columba’s parish church in Chesham for a number of years, enjoying the time spent with the children at the Youth club, at music practice, as we go on outings and most of all, as we prepare the Youth Masses: the real source and summit of everything we do in our parish.

Over the years, I found my calling in sharing the joy of the Gospel with young people, as I walk alongside them. I am grateful to all at Our Lady’s School, staff and children alike, for their warm welcome and for the opportunity to share our faith journey together.
