Curriculum Foundations

Speaking to participants in the Gravissimum Education Foundation's conference entitled, To Educate is to Transform” in June 2018, Pope Francis said that, “Identity, quality, and care for the common good are essential to the Catholic educator’s task.”
Identity

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27. Our curriculum is designed to develop our unique identity as a Catholic school and as individuals created in the image of God. We do this by ensuring our curriculum is broad and balanced so that each and every child’s God given talents and gifts are nurtured so they can flourish.

Quality

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16. For the world to notice us and wonder why we do what we do, we must have the highest possible standards. If we wish to value everybody’s gifts this must be in all areas of the curriculum.

Care for the Common Good

Catholic social teaching is woven through our curriculum. We are teaching our children to care, to love and importantly to challenge injustice wherever they find it. We are Jesus’ hands and our mission is to build God’s kingdom. #OLSbuildingthekingdom
